Dummerston

-- On Oct. 2, the Vermont State Police responded to Wickopee Hill Road for the report of suspicious activity.

According to police, Paula J. Sarringer, 38, of Williamsville, was found parked on the side of the road. She was arrested for driving while intoxicated and ordered to appear in court on Oct. 23.

Putney

-- On Oct. 2, the Vermont State Police responded to Putney Landing Road for a report of a vehicle stalled on the tracks. When police arrived, the vehicle had been removed, but Stephen R. Dwyer, 57, of Guttenberg, N.J., was arrested for driving under the influence and ordered to appear in court on Oct. 23.

Shaftsbury

-- On Oct. 1, the Vermont State Police responded to White Creek Road for the report of a dump truck on is side. According to police, Whitney Hamilton, 27, of Brattleboro, was hauling a load of gravel when he reached down to grab an item. His vehicle then drifted onto a soft shoulder and spilled onto its side. Hamilton was not injured in the crash.

Wardsboro

-- On. Oct. 7, the Vermont State Police, the Wardsboro Fire Department and Rescue Inc. responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of Newfane Road and Cobb Reed Road.

Upon arrival, police learned Diana Gayle lane, 69, of Townshend, was traveling west on Newfane Road when she failed to make a turn and ran off the road. Her vehicle hit a stone wall and then rolled into a pond.

Though the vehicle was fully submerged, Lane was able to get out of the vehicle on her own.

Lane was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence and ordered to appear in court on Oct. 23. Her vehicle was removed from the pond by Scott Brooks Towing with the assistance of a local scuba team.

Whitingham

-- On Oct. 6, the Vermont State Police responded to the intersection of Route 112 and Route 8A for the report of a single-vehicle accident.

According to police, Linda Beauchain-Corso, 61, of Bennington, was traveling north on Route 112 when she left the roadway and drove into a brook. Both Beauchain-Corso and her passenger were transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center for evaluation. The vehicle was totaled.

The Vermont State Police was assisted by the Windham County Sheriff’s Department and Whitingham Fire and Rescue.
