The River Valley Credit Union is open for any banking needs, big or small, and plays a proud, active role in the New England community.

"We help build the community by providing excellent banking services," said Jeff Morris, President and Chief Executive Officer of River Valley Credit Union. "We tend to do more than the regional banks because we know our members."

The River Valley Credit Union has been a not-for-profit business in New England since 1946. Anyone who works or lives in Windham and Windsor Counties in Vermont, or in Western Cheshire and Western Sullivan Counties in New Hampshire, can become a member.

"We are a local business that employs local people and we lend out to those who need automobiles or home repairs," said Morris. "We don’t charge our members much with fees. We’re much more user-friendly than the larger, regional banks."

Members of the union can open savings accounts, checking accounts, IRA accounts, and apply for different types of loans. To open a savings account, the minimum amount of money the account must maintain, to be eligible for member services, is $25.

The credit union is looking to expand their business. They want to help the community with business or personal loans that will improve their neighborhoods and lives.

"We have a lot of money to lend and we’re looking to increase our loan business," said Morris, in reference to the future of the credit

The River Valley Credit Union has services that help members of the community who had damages or losses due to Tropical Storm Irene. There are special funds particularly issued to help those affected by Irene, said Morris.
