Brattleboro

-- On Dec. 28, Vermont State Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on a white Subaru Outback on Western Avenue, due to the vehicle being outfitted with an unassigned Vermont registration plate. During the traffic stop, the trooper learned that the operator and registered owner of the vehicle, Lela Loomis, 36, of Westminster, was in possession of heroin. During a search of Loomis, the trooper located approximately 10 bags of heroin. Loomis was arrested for possession of heroin and was transported to the Brattleboro State Police Barracks where she was issued a citation to appear in Windham County Superior Criminal Court on Feb. 5.

-- On Jan. 2, Brattleboro Police located Donald Reetz, 44, of Brattleboro, at the Brattleboro Transportation Center. He was cited to appear in court at a later date for unlawful trespass.

-- On Jan. 3, the Vermont State Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis with a Florida registration, for failure to drive within the lane marked for travel on I-91 northbound. During the stop, the trooper smelled the odor of alcohol emanating from the vehicle. The operator and registered owner of the vehicle, Scott Carlson, 40, of West Hartford, Conn., along with the male passenger were found to be under the influence of alcohol. A subsequent search of the vehicle found several empty alcohol containers.

After completing the standard field sobriety exercises and consenting to a preliminary breath test, Carlson was arrested for operating his vehicle while under the influence. He was transported to the Brattleboro State Police Barracks, where he was processed and issued a citation to appear in Windham County

Londonderry

The Vermont State Police in Rockingham are investigating a burglary at 441 Magic Mountain Access Road. The building serves as housing for seasonal employees of Stratton Mountain. The burglary occurred between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 2. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Vermont State Police in Rockingham at 802-875-2112.

Newfane

On Jan. 2, Paula Sarringer, 38, of Newfane, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear for court proceedings. Sarringer posted bail and was released on a citation to appear in Windham Superior Court Criminal Division on Jan. 8.

Rockingham

On Jan. 3, Vermont State Troopers responded to Pleasant Valley Road for a report of a vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that Kathryn Murphy, 26, of Chester, was traveling north on the road when she lost control of her vehicle on an icy patch of road. Her vehicle left the roadway and hit two different parked vehicles. Murphy had a minor injury to her face and signed off with rescue on scene. Her three young children in the vehicle were uninjured. Her vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. The other vehicles involved received minor damage. Murphy was issued a ticket for driving on defective equipment, as both her rear tires were bald.
