BRATTLEBORO -- The 2012 Reformer Christmas Stocking has come to a close. The goal of $90,000 was reached on Jan. 3. A total of $94,519.88 was raised to purchase warm, winter outerwear for children in need in the area.
For the second year there was the option to donate online with a credit card using Paypal. Many donors chose this way to contribute with donations totaling over $3,000.
Contributions are accepted year-round at www.reformer.com/christmasstocking or they may be mailed to Reformer Christmas Stocking, P.O. Box 703, Brattleboro, VT 05302-0703. Any monies received between now and Nov. 27, will be listed in the Reformer the day after Thanksgiving when the 2013 campaign begins.
This year was the 76th year of the Stocking. A total of 870 donations were received, keeping in mind that a single donation could represent one person or a school full of children, staff and community.
A total of 1,364 children from 612 families were outfitted by the Stocking in November, preparing them for the cold winter we are now experiencing.
Anyone wishing to get involved with the Stocking, such as unloading trucks, unpacking boxes, hanging coats, etc. throughout the year may have their name added to a list to be contacted when the help is needed. Send contact information to psmith @reformer.com or mail to the Stocking at the address above.
With the final listings for this season, the Reformer Christmas Stocking Committee thanks everyone for their continued support of our program to keep area children warm.
