Brattleboro Police search for Stop and Go burglar

BRATTLEBORO -- The Brattleboro Police Department is currently investigating a burglary that took place at the Stop and Go Lube located on Putney Road in Brattleboro. The burglary occurred at approximately 11:20 pm on May 9.

According to police, the suspect entered the business and stole a safe which contained an undetermined amount of money. Evidence left at the scene is currently being processed for its evidentiary value.

Anyone having information related to the burglary or is able to identify the suspect is asked to contact either Officer Jonathan Whiteman or Det. Lt. Michael Carrier at 802-257-7950 or the Tipsline at 802-251-8188.

Chesterfield, N.H.

-- On May 9, at approximately 5 p.m., The New Hampshire State Police/Troop C, arrested Matthew T. Bitar, 25, of Chesterfield, for Receiving Stolen Property.

The arrest was made after a joint investigation of burglaries and thefts in the Cheshire County area by the State Police and the Sullivan and Harrisville Police Departments.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding burglaries and thefts in the Cheshire County area are strongly urged to contact N.H. State Police/Troop C at 603-358-3333.

Bitar was held at the Cheshire County House of Corrections for lack of $20,000 dollars cash/surety bail. He is charged with one count of receiving stolen property, a Class A Felony.

Bellows Falls

-- On March 12, the Bellows Falls Police Department responded to a residence at Green Street for the report of a larceny. Upon completing an investigation, the stolen property was recovered and Jessika Nelson-Kendall, 29, of Bellows Falls, was arrested and cited for possession of stolen property. She was ordered to appear in court on May 28.

-- On April 6 at approximately 1:12 a.m., Bellows Falls police stopped a vehicle on Route 5 for a minor traffic violation. As a result, Joseph Aslin, of Bellows Falls, was arrested and cited for possession of marijuana. He was ordered to appear in court at a later date.

-- On April 30, Bellows Falls police arrested Anthony Sargent, 50, of Rutland, and cited him for lewd and lascivious behavior as a result of an incident that occurred in The Square. He was ordered to appear in court at a later date.
