BRATTLEBORO -- The Windham County Sheriff's Department in collaboration with police departments in Brattleboro and Dover, Rescue Inc. and the Vermont State Police are "Stuff the Humvee," a Toys for Tots event, on Dec. 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Price Chopper parking lot on Canal Street.

The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. The local hosts hope to receive enough toys to stuff the Windham County Sheriff's Department Humvee and provide for many families in need in the Windham County area.

During the event on Dec. 14 there will be fire trucks, police cruisers, an ambulance and other equipment on display. Come visit your local emergency service providers and bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate for a local child to enjoy.

For those who can't make the Dec. 14 event, contributions can be made before then at the following locations: Windham County Sheriff's Department, 11 Jail St., Newfane; Brattleboro Police Department, 230 Main Street; Brattleboro Fire Department, Elliot Street; Vermont State Police, Brattleboro Barracks, 464 Marlboro Road, Dover Police Department, 246 Vermont 100; and Rescue Inc., 541 Canal St.
