-- On Dec. 10, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Bellows Falls Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop on Williams Street. As a result, Yuriy Sychev, of West Springfield, Mass., was arrested for possession of heroin. He was ordered to appear in court at a later date.
-- On Dec. 3, the Brattleboro Police Department responded to the Price Chopper on Canal Street for the report of a theft. As a result, Stacy Squiers, 28, of Brattleboro, was arrested and cited for stealing multiple items. She was ordered to appear in court at a later date.
-- On Dec. 6, the Brattleboro Police Department responded to the Child Advocacy Center for the report of suspicious activity. As a result, Susann M. Williams, 28, of Townshend, was arrested and cited for driving under the influence. She was ordered to appear in court at a later date.
-- On Dec. 7, the Brattleboro Police Department responded to the Circle K on Canal Street for the report of a woman throwing items out of her vehicle. As a result, Tanya Lee Maskell, 39, of Brattleboro, was arrested and cited for violating the conditions of her release. She was ordered to appear in court at a later date.
-- On Dec. 7, the Brattleboro Police Department responded to a residence on Canal Street for a report of a theft of personal property. As a result, Joshua W. Sternberg, 31, of Brattleboro was cited for petit larceny and ordered to appear in court at a later date.
-- On Dec. 9, the Brattleboro Police Department responded to the Hannaford grocery store on Putney Road for a report of shoplifting. As a result, Debra A. Nabozny, 53, of Waterbury, Conn., was cited for retail theft and ordered to appear in court at a later date.
-- On Dec. 9, the Brattleboro Police Department cited Jonathan P. McAuliffe, 32, of Brattleboro, for violating his court-ordered conditions of release. He was ordered to appear in court at a later date.
-- On Dec. 9, the Brattleboro Police Department responded to Western Avenue for a noise complaint. As a result, Daniel Rehm, 40, of Brattleboro, was arrested for disorderly conduct. He was ordered to appear in court at a later date.
-- On Dec. 10, the Brattleboro Police Department responded to a report that a juvenile had been assaulted. As a result, Gerard Roberts, 39, of Brattleboro, was cited for aggravated domestic assault and ordered to appear in court at a later date.
-- On Dec. 11, the Brattleboro Police Department arrested June M. Bostwick, 51, of Brattleboro, for failing to appear in court for arraignment.
-- On Dec. 9, at approximately 11 p.m., the Vermont State Police responded to Landgrove Road for the report of a single-vehicle crash. Troopers determined Anne Bernhardt, 74, of Londonderry, was traveling south when she lost control and went off the road. The vehicle went down an embankment and partially into a pond. Bernhardt was not injured.
-- On Dec. 10, at approximately 2:50 a.m., the Vermont Satte Police conducted a traffic stop on Depot Street. As a result, Thomas Logan, 32, of Winhall was cited for driving under the influence. He was ordered to appear in court on Dec. 16.
-- On Dec. 11, at approximately 1:20 p.m., the Vermont State Police responded to Route 9 near Staver Road for the report of a two-vehicle crash. During the investigation, it was determined that both vehicles were traveling westbound on Route 9 when they encountered a larger truck and a vehicle also traveling westbound. As the vehicles neared the intersection of Route 9 and Staver Road, the truck and other vehicle slowed. Steven Holland, 58, of New Albany, Ohio, and Dennis Marvin, 70, of West Swanzey, N.H., began changing lanes to avoid the slowing vehicles. During the lane change or moments after the lane change was completed, the vehicles operated by Holland and Marvin collided. The exact location of the point of impact is unknown. As a result of conflicting statements and no physical evidence at the scene, the exact cause of the crash (an unsafe lane change or following too close) could not be determined. Both vehicles were driven from the scene and both operators were wearing seat belts.
-- On Dec. 9, at approximately 10 a.m., the Vermont State Police responded to a one-vehicle crash on Pleasant Valley Road. Troopers learned Jessica DiClerico, 42, of Saxtons River, was traveling northbound when she lost control of her vehicle, skidded off the roadway, and crashed into a drainage culvert. DiClerico sustained injury and was transported by Golden Cross Ambulance to Springfield Hospital.
-- On Nov. 30, at approximately noon, Steven Ovenden 51, of Townshend, was travelling east on Plumb Road when he encountered a green Dodge pickup operated by Christopher Hewey, 33, of Townshend, which was travelling west on Plumb Road in Ovenden's lane of travel. Ovenden and Hewey collided, forcing Ovenden's vehicle off the road. Ovenden was clearly injured during the crash as he was bleeding from the head. Hewey did not render aid, exchange information, or report the collision to the police. He was later located and arrested for accidents/duty to stop and operation after suspension or revocation. Hewey was ordered to appear in court on Jan. 21. This crash is still under investigation. -- On Dec. 9, at approximately 7 p.m, the Winhall Police and Rescue Department responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 30 near the Bromley View Inn. When police arrived on scene, the driver of one of the vehicles fled the scene into the woods. With the assistance of the Manchester Police, Vermont State Police and the Winhall Fire Department, the driver was located hiding near a river on someone else's property. He was identified as 44-year-old Michael Moskalski, of Manchester. Moskalski was arrested, processed and charged with driving under the influence/third offense, negligent operation, driving with a suspended license, giving false information to a police officer, leaving the scene of an accident and attempting to elude.
The operator of the other vehicle that Moskalski hit was a woman that was four months pregnant and was evaluated at the scene with minor injuries. This is an active investigation; the Winhall Police and Rescue Department is seeking any information regarding the crash and can be reached at 802-297-2121.
