BRATTLEBORO -- Two men have been arrested and stand accused of committing a sexual assault on Nov. 27.
According to a press release from the Brattleboro Police Department, Jeffrey Anderson, 29, of Brattleboro, was arrested on Nov. 29 and cited for aggravated sexual assault. He was arraigned on Dec. 2 and is being held without bail at Southern State Correctional Facility.
During the investigation, police learned of a second person who is alleged to have participated in the sexual assault. He was identified as William Brown, 29, of Hinsdale, N.H. An arrest warrant was applied for and granted and Brown was found and taken into custody on Dec. 12 at a residence on Plain Road in Hinsdale. He was transported to Cheshire County House of Corrections pending arraignment on charges of aggravated sexual assault.
Brown’s arrest was the result of a collaborative effort by the New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force, which consists of officers from the Hillsborough, N.H., County Sheriff’s Office, the Greenfield, Mass., Police Department and deputies from the U.S. Marshall’s Office. Officers from the Vermont Violent Offender Task Force and police departments in Brattleboro and Hinsdale also assisted in the investigation.
