GRAFTON -- The Grafton Ponds Outdoor Center is ready to open for its 42nd winter ski season Saturday with a groomed base-area skiing loop thanks to its snowmaking system.

The Center is scheduled to be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will continue making snow, as temperatures allow, as a way to increase the amount of skiable terrain and to build a 600-foot snowtubing run.

According to Melissa Gullotti, the director of communications for Windham Foundation, which operates Grafton Ponds, skiers can enjoy the recreation center for free Saturday if they bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the Townshend Food Bank. Grafton Ponds will also extend its early season pass pricing through Friday, Dec. 20. There is a special rate of $199 for the family season pass.

Nordic skiers can contact the Grafton Ponds information line at 802-843-2400 or visit for updated information on trail conditions.
