BRATTLEBORO -- The Brattleboro Police Department is investigating a vehicle versus pedestrian accident that happened on Canal Street at just past 7 a.m. on Dec. 27
According to police, Ruth T. Fleming, 59, of Newfane, was driving south on Canal Street near No. 133 when for some reason she drove up onto the curb and struck Joseph H. Beebe, 66, of Brattleboro. who was walking on the sidewalk.
Beebe was transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

-- On Dec. 24, the Brattleboro Police Department arrested Shannon Rajda, 29, of North Clarendon, who was cited for retail theft at the Label Shopper on Putney Road. Rajda was ordered to appear in court at a later date.
-- On Dec. 24, the Brattleboro Police Department cited Casey M. Richardson, 24, of Brattleboro, for petit larceny, giving false information to police and for having two active arrest warrants stemming from charges of possession of stolen property and resisting arrest. She was ordered to appear in court at a later date.
-- On Dec. 25, at approximately 7 p.m., the Vermont State Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Interstate 91. As a result, Kevin D. Farrar, 62, of New London, Conn., was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. He was ordered to appear in court on Jan. 7.
-- On Dec. 27, at approximately 10:50 p.m., the Brattleboro Police Department responded to a home on Marlboro Road for the report of a disorderly person. As a result, Samantha R. Seals, 24, of Brattleboro, was arrested for disorderly conduct, aggravated assault on a police officer and resisting arrest. She was cited and ordered to appear in court at a later date.
-- On Dec. 26, at approximately 9:20 p.m., the Vermont State Police Responded to Exit 4 of Interstate 91 for the report of a single-vehicle accident. Troopers determined Kyungwon Cho, 32, of Stratford, Conn., was driving north and was attempting to exit when Cho lost control of the vehicle, spinning 180 degrees before going off the west side of the exit ramp and rolling over before stopping on its wheels in a grassy median. Cho’s passenger received injuries to her neck and right shoulder and was transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for treatment. Both the driver and the passenger were wearing seatbelts. Troopers determined Cho was driving too fast for snowy conditions and the tires of the vehicle were bald.
-- On Dec. 26, at approximately 10:40 a.m., the Vermont State Police responded to Interstate 91 for the report of a single-vehicle accident. Troopers determined Travis S. LaPlante, 31, of Quechee, was traveling south when he lost control of his vehicle, crashing head-on into the guardrail on the left-hand shoulder of the highway. It was snowing at the time of the crash, and the road surface was snow covered and slippery. Investigation into the crash determined that LaPlante lost control due to the snow. Speed was not found to be a factor in the crash.
Both LaPlante and his passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time, and both front airbags deployed in the crash. The Putney Fire Department and Rescue Inc. responded to this crash. LaPlante was transported to Brattleboro Memorial hospital by Rescue Inc. for treatment of substantial lacerations and bruising to his face. His passenger also sustained lacerations to her face, primarily to her mouth area, and her injuries were minor in nature. Both the operator and the passenger’s injuries were primarily caused by the airbag deployment, according to police.
-- On Dec. 24, at approximately 4:45 p.m., the Keene Police Department responded to Your Kitchen Store on Main Street for the report of a possible theft. As a result, Donna M. Ditchkus, 50, of Bratteboro, was cited for theft.
-- On Dec. 24, at approximately 4:40 p.m., the Vermont State Police responded to South Wardsboro Road for the report of a single-vehicle crash. Troopers determined Nairn Chadwick, 46, of Shelburne, Mass., was traveling south at approximately 40 mph when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree. After striking the tree, Chadwick’s vehicle rolled over onto it driver’s side blocking one lane traffic. No injuries were sustained in this crash and the vehicle was towed from the scene by Scott Brooks Towing.
