Bellows Falls

-- On Jan. 13, at approximately 4:40 p.m., the Bellows Falls Police Department arrested Jeffrey L. Matteson, of Bellows Falls, on an outstanding warrant. He was ordered to appear in court at a later date.

-- On Jan. 14, the Bellows Falls Police Department arrested David Dunn, of Brattleboro, for possession of approximately 150 bags of heroin. Later that day, police officers from Bellows Falls and Brattleboro conducted an authorized search of Dunn's residence on Canal Street, during which money was seized. He was ordered to appear in court at a later date.

Brattleboro

-- On Jan. 11, the Brattleboro Police Department responded to Hannaford Grocery Store on Putney Road for the report of shoplifting. Following an investigation, Matthew W. Whitcomb, 51, of Brattleboro, was cited on Jan. 17 for stealing an 18-pack of beer. He was ordered to appear in court at a later date.

-- On Jan. 13, the Brattleboro Police Department arrested Melvin McCall, 34, of North Adams, Mass., and cited him for lewd and lascivious conduct. He was ordered to appear in court at a later date.

-- On Jan. 14, Lisa Akey, 30, of Brattleboro, was cited for disorderly conduct and ordered to appear in court at a later date.

-- On Jan. 15, the Brattleboro Police Department responded to Entergy Vermont Yankee headquarters on Old Ferry Road for a report of trespassers. As a result a number of people were arrested and cited with unlawful trespass. They include: Harriet Nestel, 74, of Athol, Mass., Ulrike Vonmoltke, 69, of Sharon, Linda Owen, 74, of Brattleboro, Nancy First, 84, of Northampton, Mass., Frances Crowe, 94, of Northampton, Mass., Anneke Corbett, 70, of Florence, Mass., Susan Lantz, 73, of Northampton, Mass., Constance Harvard, 65, of Northampton, Mass., and Priscilla Lynch, 62, of Conway, Mass. They were ordered to appear in court at a later date.

-- On Jan. 15, the Brattleboro Police Department responded to Frost Street for the report of a fight. As a result, Joshua Sternberg, 31, of Brattleboro, was arrested and cited with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct. He was ordered to appear in court at a later date.

-- On Jan. 17, the Brattleboro Police Department responded to a residence on Western Avenue for the report of a dispute. As a result, Daniel Rehm, 40, of Brattleboro was arrested and cited for disorderly conduct. He was ordered to appear in court at a later date.

Newfane

-- On Jan. 14, at approximately 6:50 a.m., the Vermont State Police responded to Dover Road for the report of a single-vehicle crash. Troopers determined Daniel Cherkis, 29, of Wilmington, lost control of his vehicle after hitting black ice, left the roadway and rolled his vehicle. There were no injuries. The vehicle sustained moderate but disabling damage. Scott Brooks Towing removed the vehicle from the scene.

-- On Jan. 17, at approximately 11:30 a.m., the Vermont State Police responded to Sunset Lake Road for the report of a two-vehicle accident. Troopers determined David F. LaValley, 60, of Williamsville, was northbound on Sunset Lake Road headed down a steep down grade with a moderate curve to the right. Lori A. Ethier, 57, of Dummerston, was southbound and as both vehicles approached each other, LaValley's vehicle began to fishtail due to the icy road conditions. Both vehicles collided head on. As a result of the collision, LaValley's vehicle bounced off Ethier's, left the roadway rear first and hit a large tree, which prevented LaValley from going down a steep embankment into a stream. There were no reported injuries.

Westminster

-- On Jan. 13, the Vermont State Police conducted a directed patrol of the town of Westminster and the village of Saxtons River with the focus on reducing aggressive driving. During the detail, 12 motor vehicles were contacted for various violations, for which nine written warnings and three Vermont Civil Violation Complaints were issued.
