-- On Jan. 27, at approximately 1 a.m., the Vermont State Police responded to a home on Cemetery Road for the report of a disturbance. As a result, Sara Vitale, 36, of Athens, was arrested and cited with domestic assault. She was ordered to appear in court at a later date.
-- On Jan. 27, at approximately 8:50 a.m., the Vermont State Police responded to I-91 north for the report of a single-vehicle crash. While the crash is still under investigation, troopers determined the vehicle rolled over and came to rest on its wheels in the median strip. There were two occupants in the vehicle, one of whom required extraction by Rescue Inc. and the Putney Fire Department. That person, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released.
The names of the operator and passenger of the vehicle will be released after additional investigation is completed. Anyone who might have witnessed the crash and has not already spoken to police is urged to contact the State Police at 802-257-7101.
-- On Jan. 25, at approximately 3:45 p.m., the Vermont State Police responded to Hinesburg Road for the report of a single-vehicle crash. Troopers determined Vito J. Russo, 47, of Guilford, was traveling south at approximately 40 mph when he lost control between Governor Hunt Road and Green River Road. The vehicle crossed the northbound lane, subsequently striking a concrete bridge post. Russo sustained a minor injury to his nose from striking the vehicle’s steering wheel. His vehicle was towed from the scene by Al’s Towing of Vernon.
Russo was found to have consumed prescription medication and was administered field sobriety exercises by a Drug Recognition Expert. He was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence, 3rd offense, and driving with a suspended license. Russo was processed at the Vermont State Police barracks in Brattleboro and ordered to appear in court on March 18.
-- On Jan. 26, at approximately 9:45 a.m., the Vermont State Police responded to the Hogback Gift Shop Parking Lot on Route 9 for the report of a two-vehicle crash. Troopers determined James Peng, 23, of Carmel, Ind., was traveling east when he lost control of his vehicle rounding a sharp curve due to poor road conditions. Peng collided with a guardrail before striking the parked vehicle of Edward Metcalf, 64, of Whitingham. There were no injuries.
-- On Jan. 26, at approximately 2:15 a.m., the Vermont State Police received a report of a possibly intoxicated person driving north on I-91. The E911 caller reported he was following the suspect vehicle and it was operating erratically. Troopers from the Brattleboro Barracks responded to the area and eventually located the vehicle on Route 5 in Putney. As a result of the stop the operator, Daniel H. Lebron, 54, of Springfield, Mass., was arrested for driving under the influence and providing false information to a police officer. Lebron was processed at the Brattleboro Barracks and released on citation to appear in court on Feb. 18.
