BRATTLEBORO -- The 2013 Reformer Christmas Stocking has come to a close. The goal of $90,000 was reached on Jan. 8. A total of $91,782.08 was raised to purchase warm, winter outerwear for children in need in the area.

Contributions are accepted year-round at or they may be mailed to Reformer Christmas Stocking, P.O. Box 703, Brattleboro, VT 05302-0703. Any donations received between now and Nov. 26, will be listed in the Reformer the day after Thanksgiving when the 2014 campaign begins.

This year was the 77th year of the Stocking. A total of 794 donations were received, keeping in mind that a single donation could represent one person or a school full of children, staff and community.

A total of 1,330 children from 619 families were outfitted by the Stocking in November, preparing them for the cold winter we are now experiencing.

The Stocking was also able to outfit area children with new winter outerwear after their belongings were lost due to fires these past few months.

Anyone wishing to become involved with the Stocking, such as unloading trucks, unpacking boxes, hanging coats, etc. throughout the year, may have their name added to a list to be contacted when the help is needed. Send contact information to or mail to the Stocking at the address above.

With the final listings for this season, the Reformer staff and the Reformer Christmas Stocking Committee thanks everyone for their continued support of our program to keep area children warm.
