CHESTERFIELD, N.H. -- Last year's Spring Fling Auction and Dance worked out so well last year at the Keene Country Club, the Chesterfield Public School Foundation decided to try it again.

The event, scheduled for 7 to 11 p.m. on April 5, will be held to benefit the children of Chesterfield School. The Chesterfield Public School Foundation has funded several projects for the Chesterfield community, such as SMART Boards, artists-in-residence programs, yoga programs, iPads for the music program and numerous other projects.

Foundation board member Cindy Walsh said there will be both a silent and a live auction, as well as music played by DJ Dan Flynn. She said there will be 15 live auction items and even more at the silent one. There will also be appetizers, dessert and a cash bar.

Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased from Big Deal on Route 9 in Chesterfield, the People's United Bank on Route 63 in Chesterfield, or from any CPSF board member.

The festivities used to be held near the Chesterfield School and the Chesterfield Fire Department but was moved last year. The Keene Country Club is located at 755 W Hill Road in Keene.

CPSF President Susan Newcomer said the fundraiser is used to generate money for "the extras" that can't be or aren't budgeted for. She said every year the teachers fill out application to indicate what would be helpful to them for the following year and the CPSF tries to fund up to $10,000 in programs once the applications are reviewed. Newcomer stressed that the Foundation does not fund programs that should be budgeted for and never contributes to the salaries of school faculty or staff.

"Our priority is to touch as many kids in the school as possible," she said.

Newcomer said the goal is to get as many current and former Chesterfield residents and relatives of school children to attend the event as possible. She said there are just less than 300 students at Chesterfield School this year.
