-- On April 4, the Vermont State Police responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Brookline Road. Troopers determined David Smith, 38, of Athens had left the crash scene but returned a short time later operating an ATV. Smith was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and ordered to appear in court on April 15. There were no injuries as a result of the crash.
-- On April 4, at approximately 7:35 p.m., the Bellows Falls Police Department received information of a possible drug transaction behind the senior center. Following an investigation, Mary E. Graves, 28, of Bellows Falls, was arrested for sale and possession of heroin and violation of conditions of release. Brian Deistler, 24, of Westminster, was arrested and charged with possession of heroin and violation of his conditions of release. Both were ordered to appear in court at a later date.
-- On April 4, the Brattleboro Police Department responded to the Price Chopper on Canal Street for the report of a retail theft. As a result, Joseph J. Martin III, 48, of Brattleboro was arrested and cited with retail theft and violating the conditions of his release. On April 5, the Brattleboro Police Department cited Martin for unlawful trespass and violation of his court ordered conditions for being at the Brattleboro Transportation Center. He was ordered to appear in court at a later date.
-- On April 5, the Brattleboro Police Department cited Mitchell Garlick, 19, of Brattleboro, Scott D. Hazelton, 48, of Brattleboro, and Donald J. Reetz, 45, of Brattleboro, for unlawful trespass after being found on the property of the Brattleboro Transportation Center. They were ordered to appear in court at a later date.
-- On April 5, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Vermont State Police responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Brook Road. Troopers determined Dylan Johnson, 28, of Heath, Mass., was traveling south when he lost control of his vehicle, fishtailed and exited the paved roadway, striking a tree. Johnson and his three passengers sustained minor injuries in this crash. They were transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital by ambulance for evaluation and treatment.
Following a field sobriety test, troopers determined Johnson had consumed alcohol and was arrested for driving under the influence. He was ordered to appear in court on April 29. His vehicle was towed from the scene by Heartwellville Towing of Readsboro. The Halifax Fire and Rescue Squad assisted at the scene.
-- On April 6, at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Vermont State Police and the Bellows Falls Police Department responded to Interstate 91 for the report of a single-vehicle crash. Troopers determined Peter Augustinovich, 54, of Springfield, had been operating the vehicle. Both he and his passenger were injured in the crash and were transported to Springfield Hospital for treatment. Augustinovich was subsequently charged with leaving the scene of an accident, resisting arrest and driving under the influence. He was ordered to appear in court on May 20.
-- On April 5, the Vernon Police Department arrested Justine Lyford, 41, of Vernon, and cited her with domestic assault. She was ordered to appear in court on April 7.
