DOVER -- Off to the side of the property at Dover School sits playground equipment that was delivered late last year.

"It's all ready to go," said Lori O'Hern, administrative assistant at Dover School. "The students are looking forward to it."

On Saturday, May 10, the community playground build will begin at 8:30 a.m. School officials are asking for volunteers to pitch in and assist with setting it up.

Since the weather did not allow for the playground to be built back in December, the community build was rescheduled. School officials thought it could be set up in January but the build was again rescheduled until the ground thawed.

A representative from the New England Recreation Group will be on site to guide volunteers through the process. The School Board had authorized the purchase of the equipment from that company after the project went out to bid.

Organizers are hoping for good weather this time around. Volunteers are asked to bring any tools that may be useful. There will be lunch served at the site.

"We're going to grill hamburgers at some point," said O'Hern.

As of May 5, there were about 15 to 20 people who had confirmed that they would assist with the build. For safety precautions, volunteers are being asked to leave children at home because at the time of publication, there was no person designated to supervise children at the site, though a call was put out to the Parent Teacher Organization by O'Hern to see if there was anyone interested.

Most of the funding for the playground came from an anonymous $25,000 donation that was received by the school in May. Board members said a plaque to publicly recognize the person who donated the funds will be placed somewhere outside and a dedication ceremony will be scheduled.

Other funding for the equipment included $4,142.14 raised by the Parent Teacher Organization and $3,592.31 from Mount Snow's Dew Tour donation.
