BRATTLEBORO -- Cicely Eastman, a longtime member of the Reformer newsroom, was this week named the new features editor at the Brattleboro Reformer. Eastman replaces arts editor Jon Potter, who has been named the new Executive Director of Latchis Arts and Latchis Corporation.
In this position, Eastman will take over the weekly arts and entertainment section, Ovation!, coordinate local arts coverage, and also oversee other niche products produced by the Reformer newsroom.
"As the new editor of Ovation my goal is to take advantage of the various tools the Reformer offers in order to keep the community informed about arts and entertainment news by posting videos and daily updates on the Ovation Facebook page, using Twitter as a friendly reminder of upcoming shows or programs, and of course maintaining the weekly printed version of the Ovation," Eastman said.
Eastman joined the Reformer in 1984, starting out in the graphics department. She moved to the editorial department and began writing for the now-defunct weekly Vermont Observer in 2005.
"I will draw upon nine years of experience as the editor of Southern Vermont Adventures and editor of special sections of the Brattleboro Reformer, and most recently as an online news curator for the Reformer. I will put that experience to good use for Ovation. I am originally from Chester Depot and moved to Brattleboro when I was 13. I have been in love with it ever since. It is quirky and diverse and its residents embody all things creative.
"I'm very excited for the opportunity to continue and expand upon Jon Potter's coverage of the events and festivities of Brattleboro and the surrounding area, renown for its art's culture."
Anyone wishing to send items to Ovation! may continue to e-mail email@example.com. Eastman can be contacted by e-mail -- firstname.lastname@example.org -- and by phone (802-254-2311 ext. 261).
