Athens

-- On Aug. 9, at approximately 7:20 p.m., arrested David Smith, 38, of Athens, and cited him with simple assault, second degree aggravated domestic assault and driving with a suspended license. He was ordered to appear in court on Aug. 11.

Bellows Falls

-- On Aug. 6, the Bellows Falls Police Department cited Courtney Lafayette, 20, of Walpole, N.H., with giving a false name to police officers. She was ordered to appear in court on Sept. 2.

-- On Aug. 6, the Bellows Falls Police Department arrested Samantha Chiu, 22, of Bellows Falls, and cited her with driving under the influence. She was ordered to appear in court on Aug. 19.

-- On Aug. 7, the Windham County Sheriff's Office arrested Jonathan Bynorth, 29, of Bellows Falls, on a warrant for failure to comply with an order to make payment to the office of child support. He was ordered to appear in court at a later date.

Brattleboro

-- On Aug. 9, the Brattleboro Police Department responded to Elm Street to find Kyle E. Wells, 35, of Brattleboro, was impeding traffic. He was cited with disorderly conduct and ordered to appear in court at a later date.

-- On Aug. 9, the Brattleboro Police Department cited Kevin Regan, 58, of Brattleboro, with unlawful trespass after he was found on the Whetstone Walkway. He was ordered to appear in court at a later date.

-- On Aug. 10, at approximately 4:15 p.m.

, the Vermont State Police clocked a vehicle traveling at 84 mph in a 50-mph construction zone on Interstate 91. As a result, Naudain Hamilton, 61, of Great Neck, N.Y., was stopped and cited with excessive speed and negligent operation. He was ordered to appear in court on Sept. 16.

-- On Aug. 11, the Brattleboro Police Department cited Donald J. Reetz, 45, of Brattleboro with unlawful trespass after he was found on the Whetstone Walkway. He was ordered to appear in court at a later date.

Grafton

-- On Aug. 8, at approximately 8:45 p.m., the Vermont State Police responded to a residence on Fisher Hill Road. Following an investigation, Michael Spaulding, 40, of Grafton, was arrested and cited with domestic assault and violating the conditions of his release. He was ordered to appear in court on Aug. 11.

Guilford

-- On Aug. 8, the Vermont State Police responded to a home on Guilford Center Road for the report of a burglary. An investigation revealed that an air conditioner was removed to gain access to the home, from which several items were taken. Anyone who might have information about the incident is urged to contact the State Police at 802-254-2382.

Townshend

-- On Aug. 8, at approximately 6:25 p.m., the Vermont State Police visited a home on Peaked Mountain Road during a search for a person wanted for questioning. As a result, Wavel Christine Gibbs, 48, of Townshend, was cited with cultivation of marijuana and ordered to appear in court on Sept. 16.

Vernon

-- On Aug. 10, the Windham County Sheriff's Department found Matthew C. Unaitis, 42, of Vernon, in a suspicious area of a business parking lot after being seen driving on Route 142. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Unaitis for driving under the influence. He was ordered to appear in court on Sept. 2.

Whitingham

-- On Aug. 9, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Vermont State Police responded to Gates Pond Road for the report of a two-vehicle crash. Troopers determined William F. Brennan, 33, of Whitingham, was traveling southbound when he pulled up behind a vehicle being driven by Edmond J. Croteau, 58, of Wilmington. According to troopers, Brennan's attention was diverted long enough for him to run into the back of Croteau's vehicle. While on scene, troopers determined Croteau had consumed alcohol and he was administered sobriety exercises. Croteau was then arrested for driving while intoxicated, cited and ordered to appear in court on Sept. 9.
