VERNON -- Vermont State Police are investigating a one-car crash that left a Berlin woman injured and closed Interstate 91 northbound for more than an hour early Friday morning.
Police said Kimberly Hoisington, 55, was traveling north on I-91 in Vernon around 2:21 a.m. when she left the paved roadway and entered the median. Her 2010 Kia sedan crossed a paved U-turn and "began rolling until it came to a stop in the middle of the left, high-speed travel lane," police said.
Hoisington was found lying on the side of the road; she was transported via medical helicopter to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass. She suffered chest, leg, hand and back injuries, police said.
At the time of the crash, there was light rain and the pavement was wet.
Hoisington's Kia is considered a total loss. I-91 northbound was closed for nearly 90 minutes.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact State Police Trooper Travis Valcourt at 802-254-2382 or call the State Police Information Tip Line at 802-241-5355.
