HINSDALE, N.H. -- A 27-year-old resident of Brattleboro is suspected of attempting to rob the WalMart on Route 119 on Monday morning.
According to Hinsdale Police Chief Todd Faulkner, officers were dispatched to the WalMart after receiving a report of a disturbance at approximately 11:30 a.m.
"Associates attempted to stop him and he assaulted them," said Faulkner. The suspect then fled on foot and was found about a quarter mile west of the WalMart walking down the middle of Route 119 trying to get someone to stop and give him a ride.
Hinsdale Police Department Cpl. Mike Bomba was assisted by an off-duty Windham County, Vt., Sheriff's deputy and former Brattleboro Police Chief Eugene Wrinn, said Faulkner.
"We appreciate their help," said Faulkner.
As a result, Joseph Ford has been cited with robbery and resisting arrest. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Keene District Court tomorrow. Before moving to Brattleboro, Ford is most recently from Springfield, Mass.
