BRATTLEBORO -- Youth Services has hired Kimberley Diemond as Director of Mentoring for the organization. In addition to serving as program manager of Big Brothers Big Sisters, she will also provide oversight of the agency's Ready to Achieve Mentoring Program, which serves youth ages 13 to 17 in need of extra support at three high schools in Windham County.
Julie Davenson, Youth Services' executive director, said they are fortunate to have Diemond assume this leadership position for their mentoring programs.
"Experience working with low-income youth and families, skills in fundraising and volunteer management, and a passionate belief in the transformative nature of mentoring are all skills that Kimberley brings to this position."
Among other responsibilities, Diemond is tasked with expanding Youth Services' mentoring programs, recruiting new mentors and furthering developing financial resources to expand mentoring opportunities for youth at-risk.
"I'm looking forward to growing the agency's mentoring programs, to further engage our community partnerships into the work we do and build on the fine reputation Youth Services has with mentoring Windham County children and youth," said Diemond.
Since 2007 Diemond was employed as a paralegal in the law firm of Bragdon, Dowd & Kossayda, P.C. in Keene, N.H., where she assisted attorneys with court cases, accounts payable/receivable and general office management.
"I look forward to applying my people and leadership skills and my understanding of nonprofit management best practices to this new role," said Diemond, who replaced Kristy Smith who went back to school in the South to obtain a degree in filmmaking.
Diemond has a Bachelor of Science degree from Franklin Pierce University and a Non-Profit Management Certificate from Marlboro College Graduate School.

Downtown Alliance welcomes new board members
BRATTLEBORO -- The Downtown Alliance (formerly Building a Better Brattleboro) has added six new members over the past few months. They include Stephanie Bonin, proprietor of Duo Restaurant; Matthew Livingston, Associate Director of Graduate Admissions at Marlboro College; Dick DeGray, former Town Selectboard Chairman; Theodore "Ted" Kramer, Esq.; John Hatton, Sales Manager at Berkley & Veller Realtors; and Rory Minich, local craftsman and entrepreneur.
They join current Board members Jim Verzino, Environmental Compliance Specialist; Alex Gyori, General Manager of the Brattleboro Food Co-op; Sean Conley, Associate Dean of the Graduate School; and Tariq Chaudhri, Systems Manager at Fibermark.
Former president and board member Donna Simons recently resigned from the board.
"Donna's tireless work was really an inspiration," said interim-President Jim Verzino. "Leading us through the critical work of transferring ownership of the River Garden was a critical leverage point to begin rebuilding the organization to better serve the current needs of the community. It was an incredibly difficult piece of work. I could not have asked for a better mentor."
