BRATTLEBORO >> The Annual Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by The Brattleboro Recreation and Parks Department will be held Saturday, March 26, at Living Memorial Park on the Upper Softball Field.
Children must bring a basket or container to collect eggs. If there are special needs required for this program, call the Recreation & Parks Office at 802-254-5808 by March 24. The Easter Bunny will be there. Participants will be broken down into the following age groups and times: 9:30 a.m., ages 4 and yonuger; 9:45 a.m., ages 5 and older.
There will be six stuffed animal prizes in each age group. In the event of rain or mud the hunt will be held in the Nelson Withington Skating Facility. This program is for Brattleboro residents only.
Youth Chess Tournament
The Brattleboro Recreation & Parks Department is hosting a Youth Chess Tournament. The tournament will be meeting in the Gibson-Aiken Center Senior Center on Saturday, March 26, from 1 to 4 p.m. This program is for participants in kindergarten through grade 8; all skill levels welcome. The cost of this tournament is $5. Eric Strickland will be running the tournament. Depending on the number of entrants, contestants will be divided into appropriate groups. Swiss System, no players are ever eliminated. Game boards will be provided. For more information please call the Recreation & Parks Office at 802-254-5808.
The Brattleboro Recreation & Parks Department is hosting another session of Gymnastic Classes to be held at the Gibson Aiken Center, 207 Main St. Session IV of Gymnastics Classes will begin the week of March 28 and run through May 28. The cost of program is $72 for residents and $87 for non-residents for eight weeks; see the department's fall/winter brochure for complete details and class times.
There will be no classes April 18 through 23. Late registrations will be pro-rated. Classes are running Monday through Saturday for ages 18 months and up. Amanda Montgomery will direct the gymnastics program. There is also an Open Gym time available on Mondays and Thursdays for ages 1 to 5 with parent for $4 or Saturdays for ages 6 and older for $7. Additional Open Gym and Game Room
The Brattleboro Recreation & Parks Department is offering additional open gym and game room hours for all school ages on March 25 and March 28, from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Open Gym & Game Room is a free program for any child. It is a fully supervised program with a variety of activities to choose from. Along with basketball there is foosball, air hockey, bumper pool, arts and crafts. This is a safe place for children.
