BRATTLEBORO — The 4th Annual Green Street School Tulip Trot 5k Run/Walk and half-mile Sprout Run will be held on Saturday, May 14, at 10 a.m.

Last year, more than 50 area businesses sponsored or donated to the event and over 300 enthusiastic participants enjoyed the day.

The Tulip Trot 5k Run/Walk and half-mile Sprout Run is a family-friendly run and fitness walk that starts and ends at Green Street School. The route is 3.1 miles of road and wooded trails that winds through neighborhood streets before entering the scenic Retreat Trails at the base of Brattleboro's famous Harris Hill ski jump. Younger children can enjoy a half-mile "Sprout" fun-run around the school's campus.

After the race, enjoy music, refreshments and good times for all. If you choose not to run or walk, come anyway to cheer on the runners.

The 5k event is facilitated by the Green Street School Parent Teacher organization. The PTO is committed to promoting a healthy community while supporting wellness and fitness programs. The 5k is the culminating event to an eight-week running and fitness program designed to promote healthy habits and encourage kids to get out, exercise and maintain a fun and healthy fitness routine. The event promises to be fun-filled while raising much needed funds to support the school's fitness and enrichment programs.

All proceeds go directly to the GSS Winter Sports program, the GSS Run Club, and other PTO enrichment programs. The Tulip Trot is organized by a dedicated group of volunteers and could not happen without the generous donations from community businesses and sponsors.
