• At 10:35 p.m., the Vermont State Police responded to Higley Hill Road in Marlboro for the report of a single vehicle crash. Upon arrival, troopers discovered the driver of a red 2006 Toyota Tacoma had fled the scene. It was unclear who the driver of the vehicle was. Damage to the vehicle was substantial.

OCT. 17

• At approximately 8 a.m., Vermont State Police were dispatched to a crash that involved a school bus that was rear ended on Route 121 at Westminster Street in Saxtons River. Peter Guenther, 55, of Putney, was operating a school bus for the Grammar School in Putney. He stopped on Route 121 to wait for traffic before making a left turn onto Westminster Street. Christopher Brough, Sr., 46, of Bellows Falls, was traveling behind the bus in a 2012 GMC Sierra and failed to stop in time and rear ended the bus. There were 19 children on the bus but nobody was injured. Brough was issued a ticket for following too close.

• At 9:20 a.m., the Vermont State Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Interstate 91 in Putney. As a result, Margaret Carangelo, 20, of Greenwich, Conn., was arrested and cited with traveling at an excessive speed — 114 mph in a 65-mph zone.
