MONTPELIER (AP) - The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department is reminding hunters of three new rules now in effect.

Under changes passed by the Legislature, hunters are not allowed to shoot a wild animal with a gun or bow and arrow while on or within 25 feet of a traveled portion of a public road.

It's also now illegal to shoot a gun or bow and arrow across the traveled portion of a public road.

A third rule change makes it legal to carry a pistol or revolver while bow hunting for deer during bow and arrow season, but the weapon cannot be used to shoot the animal.
