MARLBORO -- A 67-year-old Brattleboro man escaped injury after he lost control of his 2013 Subaru XCV while traveling on Rt. 9 and crashed into the Hogback Mountain Gift Store.

The vehicle, according to police reports, "did extensive damage to the building, knocking down a 15 foot section of the stores exterior wall and destroying a large amount of merchandise on the inside of the store."

Frederick Bump was traveling east on Friday night, at about 9:45, when his vehicle struck some slush alongside Rt. 9. This caused him to lose control of the Subaru which struck the building. The vehicle was totaled.

The Vermont State Police responded to the scene.
