DOVER (AP) - Thousands of athletes, their friends and families are expected in southern Vermont's Mount Snow Valley this weekend for the fifth Tough Mudder obstacle course event to be held at the resort.
Previous versions of Tough Mudder New England have drawn participants from all over the Northeast to Mount Snow, with participants and spectators jamming local hotels and restaurants.
Participants run a 10-mile course up and down the mountain, encountering about 20 different obstacles along the way. They include mud, water, electric shocks and barbed wire.
Those who can finish are awarded the trademark orange headband and a cold beer before joining a finish-area party.
