DALTON, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire officials are trying to undo some damage done by beavers to a beach at a state park.

They say a stretch of Forest Lake Park beach in Dalton popular with swimmers and boaters has eroded because the beavers have blocked nearby culverts.

The Caledonian Record says the state Transportation Department is unblocking the culverts and is working on a trapping strategy.

Officials say if the beavers dam up the wrong culvert and heavy rains come, flooding and washouts can cause damage.

A large segment of eroded beach is currently roped off with caution signs.
