MONTPELIER (AP) - There's still no clear result in the Republican primary seeking the nomination to run for the U.S. House seat now held by incumbent Democrat Peter Welch.
With 97 percent of the precincts reporting, Mark Donka leads Don Russell by about 350 votes and the third candidate, Donald Nolte, is just over 600 votes behind.
Nolte said Wednesday he's just waiting for the results to come in.
Welch, who has held Vermont's lone seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, faced no primary opposition.
Meanwhile, Democratic Gov. Peter Shumlin won his party's nomination by a wide margin to run for a third, two-year term.
GOP gubernatorial candidate Scott Milne defeated three candidates, including a write-in challenge from Libertarian Dan Feliciano.
