CHILDREN’S CHESS: A Learn to Play Chess Series will begin on Saturday, Feb. 2, from 1 to 3 p.m. at KidsPLAYce, 20 Elliot St., in Brattleboro. Matti Salminen will teach the game. The series will continue on Feb. 9 and 16.

HEARING CARE CLINIC: The Brattleboro Senior Center is hosting an Avada Hearing Care Clinic, Tuesday, Feb. 5. from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Gibson Aiken Center, 207 Main St.
The clinic will be facilitated by Tom Martin, of Avada Hearing Care in Brattleboro. The services available during this clinic include: hearing screenings, video otoscopy, cleaning hearing aids, answering questions regarding hearing care and scheduling appointments for full hearing tests (home appointments are available). TRAVELING IN BURMA: The Brattleboro Senior Center is hosting Elisabeth Yesko, an SIT Graduate of ESL/EFL Education, who is presenting "Travel Experiences from Myanmar (Burma)," Thursday, Feb. 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the Gibson Aiken Center, 207 Main St. Yesko will share a slideshow and speak about her experiences. OPEN HOUSE AT BMH: The Brattleboro Memorial Hospital Diagnostic Imaging Department invites the public to an open house, showcasing its new MRI and CT technology, on Wednesday, Feb. 6, from 4 to 6 p.m. BMH has recently relocated its MRI equipment to the ground floor of the Richards Building. In addition to updated technology that is quieter, faster and provides significantly higher quality images, the new MRI suite provides a more relaxing and comfortable environment. Marcy Rushford, CRA, director of the Radiology & Cardiology Units at BMH, will be joined by Certified Technologists Emma Jones-Higley, RT and Virginia Miller RT, Chief Radiologist Dr. Edward Elliott and Toshiba Vice President Jeffrey Kloss, to discuss the technologies and how they help patients. SUPER BOWL BREAKFAST: The Annual Super Bowl Sunday Breakfast will be hosted by the Chesterfield Lions Club on Sunday, Feb. 3, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Chesterfield School on Route 63. DISCOUNTED TICKETS: On Feb. 3, 10 and 24 and March 3, discounted tickets for Brattleboro Area Middle School students and families are $33 per youth and $38 per adult for a full-day lift ticket at Mt. Snow. Tickets must be purchased as a group, and the school must have 10 people going each week in order to receive the special price.
