PUTNEY -- Next Stage Arts, The Gleanery and the Putney Co-op are proud to partner in presenting a January film series that’s all about the food, with Dinner and a Movie Thursday evenings in January. Each week at 5:30 p.m., the chefs at the Gleanery will serve a menu inspired by some of their favorite films about food; then diners will head over to Next Stage at 7 p.m. and see those films on the big screen. Ticket holders will be treated to snacks courtesy of the Putney Co-op.

On Jan. 2, "The Gleaners and I," a French language documentary by Agnes Varda, explores the culture of gleaning in the fields and markets of food-rich France. On Jan. 9, the American documentary "King Corn" examines the impacts of corn in our nation’s modern food supply. On Jan. 16, the Pixar classic "Ratatouille" inspires food lovers young and old. On Jan. 23, "Jiro Dreams of Sushi" chronicles the real life tale of one of Japan’s best loved, and most revered, sushi masters. Then on Jan. 30, "Fresh," the movie, documents some of the leading farmers and food systems innovators in the modern quest for a just, sustainable food future.

Tickets for Dinner and a Movie are $23 for adults, $13 for kids 13 and under. Seating at the Gleanery is limited, so buy tickets in advance at the Putney Co-op, or the Gleanery during business hours. For more information, visit www.nextstagearts.org.
