BELLOWS FALLS -- Kingdom County Productions and Marlboro College will present the internationally-renowned dance troupe, Ballet Jazz of Montreal, in an exclusive New England performance, on Sunday at 7 p.m., at the Bellows Falls Opera House.

Ballet Jazz of Montréal has pursued a unique path over the decades. Part ballet, part modern, part street dance, the troupe defies categories with its blend of hip, funky moves infused with infectious energy, humor and imagination. Very contemporary in its current approach, BJM performances are sexy, explosive, original and accessible. Company artistic leaders explain that the term "jazz" in the name refers more to a "jazzing up" of classical ballet rather than a musical or dance style.

Beginning its 41st season, BJM has achieved a level of maturity while remaining open to the ever-evolving form that is contemporary dance. Its pieces are marked by dynamic physicality, virtuosity and the strong personalities of its performers.

Ballet Jazz of Montreal is one of Canada’s most popular dance companies. It has presented more than 2,000 performances in 65 countries to more than 2 million spectators, and is an ambassador of Quebec and Canadian culture worldwide.

Tickets for the Jan. 26 performance range from $27-59, $20 for ages 18 and under, and are available at KingdomCounty.org or by calling 888-757-5559. Tickets are also available at Village Booksellers.

This Ballet Jazz performance is made possible through support from The New England Foundation for the Arts, as well as backing from Brattleboro Savings and Loan, The Brattleboro Retreat, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont and Vermont Public Radio.
