BRATTLEBORO -- Look outside the window, and July seems like a long ways off, but for the organizers of the Southern Vermont Dance Festival, it’s looming.

The second annual Southern Vermont Dance Festival is planned for July 17-20 and will once again bring top-quality performances, workshops and lectures to many venues in Brattleboro.

The festival has put out a call for choreographers to submit work for performances at the festival. The deadline is March, and festival organizers are seeking work created by professionals, students and faculty in any genre.

"We’ve gotten tons and tons of submissions from around the country," said Festival Executive/Artistic Director Brenda Siegel, citing California, Texas and West Virginia among the places submissions have come from.

Still, the festival encourages more choreographers, especially local ones, to submit work by March 1. Application can be made at www.southernvermontdancefestival.com.

Tickets to the festival go on sale through web site beginning March 5. There will be a "Backstage Pass" ticket available, offering buyers for a limited time (three weeks) and a limited number (the first 150) the chance to buy a discounted full immersion ticket. Sign up now on the web site for the festival’s mailing list to be clued in on this and other offers.

Also, individuals, organizations and business are invited to join Brattleboro Savings & Loan and SoBo Studio as festival sponsors. Information is available at the web site, which also includes word on festival crowdfunding opportunities.

Since its founding, the festival has eagerly sought partnerships with local businesses and has, as an important part of its mission, supporting the local business community.
