BRATTLEBORO -- Mai Hernon & Celtic Font present a concert of Irish traditional and Irish/American folk songs at Hooker-Dunham Theater & Gallery, 139 Main St., on Sunday, at 7 p.m. A combination of the old and the new, Mai and her partner Mick McEvilley are what happens when traditional Irish singing meets the heartland of America.

Hernon grew up in Gurteen, Co Sligo, Ireland, also known as Coleman Country, after the great fiddle player, Michael Coleman. She was steeped in the very best music. Hernon has released three albums of traditional songs and she has toured Ireland, England, Europe and America. She has performed with some of the top artists in Ireland, including Dervish, members of Kila, Seamie O’Dowd, Dolores Keane, and Len Graham.

Hernon now tours with her husband Mick McEvilley as the duo Celtic Font, and she is also front singer with her all-female traditional band called Beeswing.

Tickets for the show are $15 at the door, with no reservations required.
