SAXTONS RIVER -- Main Street Arts presents the beloved Gilbert & Sullivan operetta "The Pirates of Penzance" on Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 2 and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m., at Nita Choukas Theater in Horowitz Hall on the Vermont Academy campus.
Featuring rollicking pirates, damsels in distress, bungling police officers, a befuddled Major General and some of Gilbert’s wittiest words and Sullivan’s most beautiful music, "The Pirates of Penzance" has been one of their most beloved works since it debuted in
The Main Street Arts productionis directed by David Stern, with Walt Sayre as music director, Gretchen Abendschein as choreographer and Mary Hepburn as producer.
The Main Street Arts cast stars Lindsey Soboleski (Mabel), Libby McCawley (Ruth), Michael Duffin (Frederic), Frank Sibley (Pirate King), Jack Bryar (Major General), Greg Sweeney (Samuel), Lesley Cotter (Edith), Kathleen Bryar (Kate), Annesa Hartman (Isabel), Gary Clay (Police Sargeant), Celine West (Pirate Cook).
Also in the cast are Kelly Dane, Elle Jamieson, Amy Howlett, Emma Ramen, Fred Ramen, Irene Ramen, Gail Haas, Victor Brandt, Mike Mayer, Ira Wilner, Jimmy Malley, David Roberts, Rick Cowan, Steven Griffiths and Dennis Hagan.
