PUTNEY -- The 2014 Winter Sunshine Series of Family Performances at Sandglass Theater continues on March 29 with "The Pirate, The Princess, and the Pea," presented by the area’s own Crabgrass Puppet Theatre. Performances are at 1 and 3 p.m.
Pirate lore meets fairy tale in "The Pirate, the Princess and the Pea," a swashbuckling pirate and princess adventure story.
"We’re really excited to be bringing ‘Pirate’ to our audience at Sandglass," says Crabgrass performer Jamie Keithline. "It’s a beautiful show that combines classic hand puppet action with some new twists."
Keithline and designer Bonny Hall formed Crabgrass Puppet Theatre in San Francisco in 1982 and moved to Halifax in 2001. They have delighted audiences across the nation with their whimsical humor and puppetry and been awarded two Citations of Excellence from UNIMA-USA, the highest puppetry award in the United States. In 2009, Hall was awarded a Design Commendation from the Arlyn Award Foundation for "The Day It Snowed Tortillas." For more information on Crabgrass Puppet Theatre, visit www.crabgrasspuppets.com.
Tickets are $8. Make reservations early; there are only 60 seats available for each performance and most shows sell out. Call the Sandglass box office at 802-387-4051 for reservations and information.
The 2014 Winter Sunshine Series of Family Performances is a collaboration between Crabgrass Puppet Theater, Puppetwork New England and Sandglass Theater, and is funded in part by a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts.
The mission of the series is to present world-class puppetry for family audiences in and around Southern Vermont.
