BRATTLEBORO -- As a hub for the local artistic community, the River Gallery School provides an opportunity for everyone, from young children to the elderly in care facilities, to find their way to joyful artistic expression. The school’s 24th Annual Auction event is coming up on May 10, and promises to be a festive night of celebration, creativity, community.
Founded in 1976, RGS runs a robust selection of classes and workshops in a range of mediums. The Language of Color, Asian Brush Painting, Printmaking and Encaustic Fusion are just a few of the upcoming classes. Open Studios and the popular Life Drawing Marathons are great ways for both active and aspiring artists to work on individual skills in a supportive group atmosphere.
RGS offers scholarships for adults and children, including the summer and school vacation programs, and partners with community organizations such as Hospice, the Senior Center, and programs for adults with physical and cognitive challenges.
The Annual Benefit Auction on Saturday, May 10 will be filled with lively music, delicious appetizers and dessert from Terri Ziter of A Vermont Table and beautiful items for bid. The live auction features trips and adventures, including one week in Tuscany, a South African safari, and a weekend in Los Angeles. Local businesses and artists have filled both the silent and live auctions with an assortment of items and gift certificates.
The silent auction begins at 5 p.m., and the live auction begins at 7 p.m. Admission to this event is $25 and includes a paddle number, appetizers, coffee and dessert, live music and a great time.
