GUILFORD -- Wendy’s House Concert Series presents Moonlight and Morning Star with a music offering they are calling "When the Water Spoke" on Sunday. Potluck supper is at 6 p.m., and music is at 7 p.m. Suggested donation is $10-15 at the door.
Pianist Ben Cohen joins the duo for this special program of music/spoken word/magic. Jazz, blues, soul -- their own musical genre defies description, but always delights and inspires their audiences. Moonlight and Morning Star have been singing, composing and living together for two decades.
At this concert they will perform new musical/poetic collaborations, songs by Gregory Porter, Abby Lincoln, ballads, R&B and gospel. The event is dedicated to the element of water.
Moonlight’s voice combines a richness of expression and tone that is rare. Morning Star’s spoken word pieces and songs are powerful reflections of our present life. The duo have an intimate, passionate performance style, that engages an audience from the first notes to the last.
Their pianist Ben Kohn is a multi-genre artist, with a humorous twist. He’s played with Charles Neville, Samirah Evans and often joins Moonlight and Morning Star in the group The Charm Brothers.
