BRATTLEBORO -- On Friday, Shall We Dance celebrates 10 years of offering Ballroom Dance to the Brattleboro community with a special event featuring the Butterfly Swing Band.
On June 6, there will be dancing to the Butterfly Swing Band. In wanting to offer more to dancers, Shall We Dance? will have two lessons before a dance. This week (and through June) a foxtrot beginner lesson is at 6:30 p.m., and an intermediate lesson will be at 7:15 p.m. Open dancing runs from 8 to 10 p.m. Admission is $10.
Refreshments and air-conditioning are always available. Come celebrate 10 years of Shall We Dance? service to the dance community. Having a partner is not necessary to attend. Shall We Dance? is newcomer- and gender-friendly.
Shall We Dance? -- initially known as Let’s Dance Southern VT -- offers a variety of social partner dances to Brattleboro and its neighbors. Brattleboro was once a thriving dance town many years ago and deserves to be recognized once again as a place to dance in traditional and contemporary styles of social partner dance. Shall We Dance? is especially grateful for all the dancers who have helped its continue to grow.
Shall We Dance? holds regular Friday lessons and dances (except second Fridays), as well as Tuesday night series of classes and second Saturday West Coast Swing lessons and dances. Shall We Dance? teaches private wedding dances and other lessons and regularly teaches at local schools and outside venues. It is primarily located in the Stone Church, 210 Main St.
Owner and teacher Ray Warren has taught ballroom and Latin dance for more than 35 years, and now teaches with his wife, Lucinda.
