ROCHESTER, N.Y. >> A freight train has struck and killed a 60-year-old homeless man in Rochester.
Rochester Police say a 33-car CSX freight train was traveling westbound toward an Amtrak station at the time of the accident. The man's body was found Sunday morning after a freight train engineer reported he may have hit two people who were walking on the tracks.
CSX police officers and Rochester Police are investigating. So far, they have not found a second victim.
The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reports that few details were available about why the man was on the elevated tracks. His body was found near the overpass, which is about a half-mile from the Rochester Public Market.
Police have not released the victim's name, pending notification of his family.
