GREENFIELD, Mass. -- The Double Take Fringe Festival, presented by Old Deerfield Productions and Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, was offered for the first time in Greenfield in 2011. The event was a success and will be back on Nov. 9 and 10.
This year, organizers will select eight plays that will be performed on each of two nights with a cash/trophy awards and party at the end of the festival. The awards are in the following categories: Best ensemble performance, the Fringiest and People’s choice.
Most of the venues are working facilities like restaurants and galleries. DTFF will try to fit the performance to a specific venue. Applicants will gather their own casts and provide their own costumes, props, and rehearsal space. Be prepared to load in and have a dress rehearsal in the venue on Nov. 8.
What DTFF provides for participants
* The venue, seating, publicity (each company is also encouraged to do their own publicity), free passes to other plays, the wrap party and prizes, brochures of events, times and places.
What DTFF does not provide
* Lights, sets, props, sound systems. DTFF will try to provide rehearsal space (if necessary) for as many venues as possible. DTFF provides no payment to performer or companies.

The one-page application should include: setting, tone, mood and world of the play; synopsis of the work; company name, address, e-mail, phone, playwright, running time (no more than 45 minutes), director, number of characters, whether the work presented is published or original, age range that the work is suitable for, technical aspects of show.
Submissions are not limited to theater companies.
