Plein Air painting

When: Sunday, Aug. 5, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Where: Main Street Arts, Saxtons River. Cost: $42 for Main Street Arts members, $56 for nonmembers. Instructor: Matthew Peake. Contact: 802-869-2960 or www.mainstreetarts.org. Of note: Group will meet at Main Street Arts then head to nearby outdoor scene to paint (with pastels or watercolors) or draw with graphite/charcoal. Easels encouraged. MSA can provide paper, charcoal and graphite but participants need to being watercolors, pastels and watercolor paper. In case of rain, group will work inside from photos.

Cartooning and Claymation

When: Aug. 6-10, 3 to 5 p.m. Where: River Gallery School, Main Street, Brattleboro. Instructor: Tessa Carpenter. Cost: $140. Contact: 802-257-1577 or www.rivergalleryschool.org. Of note: Develop an original character and explore through activities involving comics, flipbooks and claymation.
