ROCKINGHAM -- The all-acoustic Summer Social Concert Series at the landmark Rockingham Meeting House continues with a performance by Billy Wylder on Sunday at 2 p.m., presented by Vermont Festivals LLC in association with Flying Under Radar and Kicking and Screaming.
Wylder has been called a modern day social bandit joined by a fine line of musician vigilantes. The band includes an all-star cast from Hey Mama and Anais Mitchell’s Hadestown Orchestra. This show features Avi Salloway from Hey Mama, Paul Chase (Hadestown Orchestra), Sten Isak, Fred Kosak and Adam Moss.
Mountain sounds cut with city edges meet the spirit of a storied outlaw. A certain veracity and bite comes from the life of an urban cowboy, and this forges the fire that lives deep in the heart of Billy Wylder.
The songs run through history with no commitment to any specific time period but draw heavy influence from some of America’s great writers, including Townes Van Zandt, Hank Williams, Mark Twain and David Byrne.
The band is currently recording and receiving a good buzz from performances in the Northeast. Sample a preview to the forthcoming record at billywylder.com/albumpreview.
Wylder is a punk on horseback singing songs for the people, with the people, about the people.
Doors for the show open at 1:30 p.m. The Rockingham Meeting House is located on Meeting House Road, just
