Brooks Library hosts Design-a-Plate on Friday

BRATTLEBORO - The 31st annual Design-a-Plate workshop will be held on Friday at Brooks Memorial Library, 224 Main St. Stop in any time between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to make a 10-inch melamine plate, 20-ounce melamine bowl or both. Each item costs $6. Cash and checks made out to Brooks Memorial Library are accepted.

Plates and bowls will be ready for pickup in early December. For information, call the Children's Room at 802-254-5290, ext. 110.

Art event benefits Windham Child Care Association

BRATTLEBORO - Windham Child Care Association invites the community to attend its second annual benefit: Fall Into Art, which will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Robert H. Gibson River Garden.

This event showcases artwork by the area's youngest artists alongside experienced adult artists. Along with the art show, attendees will enjoy hors d'oeuvres, homemade desserts, cider, door prizes and music by guitarist Draa Hobbs. There are two ticket options: $10 to view the art gallery or $35 to bring a piece home. What makes this benefit unique is how ticket-holders end up with their art. All $35 ticket-holders will receive a work of art. However which one it is will be left to chance. Upon arrival, draw a number from a basket, then view the art gallery. At 7 p.m., the artworks' corresponding numbers will be revealed.

All proceeds support young children and families in the

community. At the event, Windham Child Care Association also present its Award for Exemplary Service in Early Childhood Education to four recently retired educators - Sue Clarke, Cilda Dorner, Claire Nelson and Carol Lynch.
