PUTNEY - Sandglass Theater's Voices of Community Series opens Oct. 26-27 with the irrepressible antics of Los Angeles' Kristina Wong in "Going Green the Wong Way."
Performances will be at Sandglass Theater on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 26 and 27, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 general admission, $12 for students and seniors. For reservations, call Sandglass Theater at 802-387-4051.
As an Asian American bisexual woman, Wong doesn't suggest that "saving the environment is all rainbows and butterflies." Rather, she unashamedly calls attention to the struggles she has faced on her own quest to go "green" while living as a single woman in Los Angeles.
Originally produced by Mad Cat Theatre Company in Miami, Fla., "Going Green the Wong Way" premiered back in 2010, with subsequent performances in San Francisco, and Las Vegas. All along the way Wong has garnered praise from theater critics, ecologists and audiences alike.
Voices of Community: A Performance series on Diversity, now in its eighth year, is presented by Sandglass Theater. Through performances and workshops, the series serves to create a sustained dialogue between artists and local community members about issues of diversity and identity. The series is made possible by The National Endowment for the Arts and the National Performance Network.
