BRATTLEBORO -- Brattleboro Area Hospice presents the Chair-ished Goods Auction on Saturday at the VFW on Black Mountain Road.

In addition to many interesting auction items, a creative, artistic event has been added, with specially selected chairs available for bidding. These chairs were refurbished, hand-painted and otherwise embellished by local artists, including Kris McDermet and her sister Lynn Hoeft, Jackie Abrams, Cindi Hutcheson, Petria Mitchell, Dianne Shapiro and Marci Selig Smoger.

The event starts at 4 p.m., with hors d’oeuvres and cocktails (cash bar) and a preview of items featured in the live auction (which starts at 5 p.m.). During this time and throughout the evening, guests are encouraged to bid on the many interesting items in the silent auction.

The live auction with Kit Martin features high quality, antique and good condition furniture, jewelry, paintings, china, glassware and decorative items in addition to the interesting and artistic chairs. There is also an African photographic safari for bid in the live auction. Other unique offerings include a new bicycle, kayak and two snowboards. For a partial list of items, visit www.brattleborohospice.org where there are also photographs of some of the painted chairs along with information about the artists.

The Chair-ished Goods Auction lists as its main sponsor Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, with 21 additional local sponsors completing the roster. All proceeds directly support the hospice care and bereavement services that are provided free of charge in the community by Brattleboro Area Hospice.
