BRATTLEBORO -- New England Youth Theatre is hosting two auditions this month.¨
Auditions for the spring 2013 production of the comedy/farce "Scapin," directed by Stephen Stearns, will be held on Saturday at 4 p.m. (arrive at 3:45 to sign in), and end at 6 p.m. Rehearsals begin on Monday, March 4. Performances are April 5- 7 (break for vacation) and April 26-28. The production will then tour to a couple of high schools.
This production is for actors ages 13-19. There are six male parts, five female parts and one part (the piano and CD boom-box player) who can be either female or male. The servant parts, Scapin and Sylversre, will be shared by Alec Silver and Henry Weisel. All other parts are open to anyone auditioning.
Stearns will make casting choices based upon auditions and chemistry, i.e., which people appear to interact best together as an ensemble. There are no preparation requirements for the audition. Auditioners will engage in comedy theater games and do some duet line sparring.
Auditions for "Ferdinand the Bull," directed by Peter Gould, will be on Wednesday Nov. 28, from 4 to 5 p.m. Performances will be from Feb. 15-23. This production is for actors ages 9-13.
Come one come all to the audition for Peter Gould’s new junior company January/February play. NEYT is working to get the rights to "Ferdinand the Bull." This will be a very physical and comical ensemble production. Bring a poem, a speech, a story, a song -- no more than 2 minutes long. It is best if auditioners have their pieces memorized.
