PUTNEY -- Arthur Davis, of the Washed Up Beulah Band, has been working with Tony Barrand learning British ballads and songs during his January Term at Oberlin College. At the completion of their work together, this Sunday, they will perform a concert at Sandglass Theater at 7.30 p.m., using some of the songs they have learned.

Barrand recently finished the 38th season touring with Nowell Sing We Clear. As part of his January Term project, Davis toured on weekends with his gospel quartet, the Washed Up Beulah Band. They recently played a sold-out show at New England Youth Theatre, and on their latest tour played and led singing workshops at various venues in the Boston and Chicago areas. They both will perform at the Northern Roots Festival this weekend on Saturday: Barrand will lead a Pub Sing at McNeill’s Brewery at 1 p.m., and Davis will perform in the final concert at 7:30 p.m., at New England Youth Theatre.

In the Sandglass concert, Barrand and Davis will sing a selection of songs about love, work and domestic strife and will include a classic ballad about the "Grand Conversation on Napoleon" composed during the great man’s exile and imprisonment on the rocky Isle of St Helena.

Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at the door. Sandglass Theater is fully accessible but has limited space. To reserve seats, call 802-254-8684.
