MARLBORO -- Pianist Robert Merfeld and violinist Bayla Keyes return to Marlboro College, joined by Judith Serkin on cello, for an afternoon of classical music on Sunday at 3 p.m., in Ragle Hall at Marlboro College. The concert is free.

They will perform a selection of music by mostly French composers, including Violin Sonata no. 2 by Ravel, Violin Sonata no. 2 for Solo Violin by Ysaÿe, Piano Trio in D Minor, op. 120, by Fauré and Five Melodies for Violin and Piano, op. 35, by Prokofiev.

Merfeld, who received his master’s from The Juilliard School, is a collaborative piano lecturer at the College of Fine Arts, Boston University. He has taught at the Brattleboro Music Center, the Damascus Conservatory and Dartmouth College and has taught at Brandeis University and the Juilliard School.

Violinist Keyes, who received her master’s from Yale University, is associate professor of music at the College of Fine Arts, Boston University. Following her professional history with Music from Marlboro, Keyes created the Muir String Quartet and traveled internationally, achieving the Evian and Naumburg Awards and two Grand Prix du Disques. She currently performs as an orchestral recitalist and soloist, and is a member of Boston Musica Viva, a contemporary music ensemble, and the piano trio, Triple Helix. Keyes is a board member of Chamber Music America.

participant at the Yellow Barn and Marlboro Music festivals. Serkin began her cello studies in Puerto Rico with Marta Casals Istomin and continued with David Soyer, of the Guarneri Quartet, at the Curtis Institute of Music. She was also a student of Mischa Schneider, of the Budapest Quartet. A founding member of the Soldier Creek Music Festival in Nevada, Serkin has been a frequent participant at the Yellow Barn and Marlboro Music festivals and has also been on numerous Music from Marlboro tours. She makes her home in Guilford.
