DUMMERSTON -- The Vermont Theatre Company invites all to "Green Room Connection Workshops" on Saturday, March 23, from 3 to 8 p.m.,. at the Evening Star Grange.
This time, in addition to the informal conviviality and networking of the first "Connection" event in January, VTC will offer an Audition Workshop, a Theater Games Workshop and a potluck supper. The event is free.
The Audition Workshop, from 3 to 5 p.m., is for "green" actors who want to learn the basics of auditioning as well as for veterans who want to hone their skills. Josh Moyse, Adrienne Major and Ben Stockman will lead the participants through the processes of working with monologues and doing "cold" readings. Participants should bring a prepared/memorized monologue.
The potluck dinner is at 5 p.m., followed by the Theater Games Workshop until 8 p.m. The leadership of the games will be passed around to anyone who would like to lead something. Jane Baker, Emma Bliss, Ben Stockman, Amelia Struthers and Robin Zegge will be starting things off.
"The Green Room Connection Workshops" are a time for all local theater companies, actors, directors, writers, tech people, stage managers, crew, critics, audience members and curious community members to talk about and learn how to do theater.
VTC will provide some snacks during the afternoon, dinner is potluck, and volunteers from the Grange will be selling sodas and baked goods in the afternoon and evening. Donations are welcome to help defray the cost of renting the space.
